How does it work?

Water connects every aspect of life, it fuels our economy, guarantees our national security, and keeps us alive. Access to safe water and sanitation can quickly turn problems into potential – unlocking education, work opportunities, and improved health for women, children and families across South Africa, and the World. Water is an active force. It is powerful and when used wisely, it can change the world. But before we can solve the crisis we need to understand the problem.

  • Ground water is getting deeper and deeper, and more contaminated,
  • Surface water is becoming more contaminated, and
  • the atmosphere contains the cleanest, most easily accessible, and abundant source of water.

How the Machine works:

Once the moisture has been condensed into water, and passed through a Cirrus Water AWG machine, it is completely safe for drinking. Pure, soft and safe drinking water for your family, employees or customers.

Water Vapour is available in the air

Cirrus Water Atmospheric Water Generators are humidity and temperature driven machines. This means the AWG’s ability to generate water depends entirely on the level of humidity and atmospheric temperature. The higher the humidity, the more the machine is capable of producing water. Ideally, the humidity should be 44% or above to achieve optimum performance. In places with lower humidity, the machine will still work well, however water production will take longer.

Condensing coils convert vapour to liquid

A centrifugal fan draws a large amount of fresh air into the system, before passing it through an electrostatic filter which removes airborne particles and impurities. The Filtered air is then passed through condenser coils where water vapour is cooled down to its dew point providing the temperature difference that causes condensation.

UV lights sterilise the water

The condensed water, which is still full of minor impurities and micro-organisms drips down and collects in a holding tank underneath the coils, where the water gets treated with UV light. UV light, if you did not know kills over 90% of bacteria, viruses, protozoa, mould spores, and inhibits bacteria growth in the water.

UV Sterilization, occurs after initial carbon filtration. There is additional carbon filtration after the external storage tank.

The Water passes through filtration

After getting treated with UV light, the water is then pumped through a series of high-density and low-density charcoal filters in the bottom tank, which removes ammonia, chlorine residues, organic compounds and other volatile organic compounds. Up next is a final carbon charcoal filter, to remove the solids and oxygenate the water.

What’s left is pure drinking water

The water is now pumped into a reservoir tank, where it is periodically circulated through a UV light and back, to ensure water integrity.

Before being dispensed, our water is filtered one more time by two molecular sieves (screens) to trap any fine particles that may be suspended in the water.
