Prior Solution

Client used 125 litres of bottled drinking water per day for guests and 120 litres of desalinated water per day for staff.

5 litre and 500ml plastic bottled water was ordered monthly, trucked to port and sailed to the island.

Plastic bottles were stored in a hot environment, running the risk of BPA’s leaching into the water.

Empty plastic bottles were sailed off the island to the mainland for disposal.

Average cost for bottled water including transport and empty bottle disposal was $2.00 per litre.

Cirrus Solution

A CWM300 unit was installed near the kitchen, with a small bottling plant filling branded reusable glass bottles.

The glass bottles are used throughout the lodge with no transport or disposal issues.

The Total Cost of Ownership over a five-year period was calculated at $0.20 per litre, an astonishing 90% saving, after considering transport and disposal costs!
